This is a points based program which offers eligible Skilled workers permanent residency based on their ability to become economically established in Canada.
The application would be evaluated whether it is eligible for processing. For this, if the applicant has at least one year of experience in one or more of the following occupations then a job offer is not required.

After the applicant is eligible for processing then the applicant has to earn a minimum number of points based on education, languages, work experience, age, employment and adaptability to qualify.

A work permit allows its holder to work in Canada temporarily.
A job offer and sponsorship is required from a company in Canada to apply for this visa.
The employer may need to get a labour market opinion,which confirms that the employer can fill the job with a foreign worker, from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC).
For the following jobs, a letter from HRSDC is not needed, and the work permit application may be processed more quickly: Senior Animation Effects Editor, Embedded Systems Software Designer, MIS Software Designer, Multimedia Software Developer, Software Developer—Services, Software Products Developer, Telecommunications Software Designer.
This visa is only good for the job in the designated company and is not transferable.
If the holder wishes to work for another company then another application for a work permit specific to the new company has to be applied for.
When the applicant has worked in this visa category for 2 years then they can apply for "Canadian Experience Class" which grants them Permanent Residency. They can then be able to work for any employer anywhere in Canada (except Quebec).

This is for those applicants who have the skills, education and work experience needed to make an immediate economic contribution to the province of Quebec and establish themselves successfully as permanent residents in Canada.
A job offer is not required but would is recommended for increasing the chances of being selected by Quebec.
The applicant should apply to the Quebec government for a certificate of selection (Certificat de sélection du Québec).
The applicants would be evaluated based on the following seven criteria: profile, training, work experience, knowledge of French and English, ties to Québec and any previous stays in Quebec in the past, an employment offer made by an employer in Québec, and information regarding the accompanying spouse or common-law spouse.

Following are the provinces of Canada which are currently participating in this program: Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Yukon.
The applicant must first apply to the province where they wish to settle and complete its provincial nomination process. The province will consider the application based on its immigration needs and the applicant's genuine intention to settle there.

To be eligible in this category, the applicant must be currently working in the United States on a valid temporary skilled worker visa in an occupation that is in demand in Alberta.
The applicant must be currently working in the United States and possess a valid visa in one of the following temporary skilled worker visa categories: H1-B, H1-B1, H-1C, E-3 at the time the AINP makes a final decision on the application. They should also have a minimum of one year of work experience in the above mentioned visa categories and their current occupation must be on the AINP Occupations Under Pressure List for the Strategic Recruitment Stream – U.S. Visa Holder Category.
A job offer is not required for this program but priority will be given to applicants who have a valid job offer from an Alberta employer in a field related to their current occupation in the US.
