This visa allows the holder to work for the approved company and the approved position in Spain.
A job offer and sponsorship is required from a company in Spain to apply for this visa.
This visa is only good for the specific position in a specific company in a specific geographic area in Spain.
A new permit may not be issued if the holder wishes to change company or even the position in the same company then a new permit has to be applied for.
The first time the Type B permit is isssued, it will be for a maximum of 1 year. It can be renewed after this 1 year which will then be granted for a maximum period of 2 years. This is called a "Type B Renewed Work Permit". This visa entitles the holder to carry on various professions or activities and not be restricted to a specific company. After this visa expires, a "Type C Work Permit" is issued which enables the holder to perform any professional activity throughout the Spanish territory.

Applicant Requirements:

- Copy of valid passport.
- Certificate of criminal records issued by the authorities of the applicant's home country.
- Official medical certificate.
- Three passport-size photographs.
- Fiscal registration number (NIE or CIF) and the Social Security registration number of the employer.
- Offer of employment containing labour conditions.
- Full description of the job and the company's activity.
- Proof of Qualification and Experience Certificates.

A job offer is not required from a company in Spain to apply for this visa.
The Initial Type D Permit which is granted initially for 1 year is restricted to a specific geographic area in Spain.
The "Initial Type D Permit" can be renewed after this 1 year which will then be granted for a maximum period of 2 years. This is called a "Type D Renewed Permit". After this visa expires, a "Type E Permit" is issued which enables the holder to perform any professional activity throughout the Spanish territory for a maximum of 3 years.
